On 26 July 2024, H.E. Mr. Jakkapong Sangmanee, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, as the Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of Thailand, attended the State Funeral of H.E. Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam. He paid respects to the late General Secretary and signed the condolence book on his passing at the National Funerary House in Hanoi.

H.E. Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong played an important role in strengthening Thailand - Viet Nam bilateral relations. The elevation of the bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership during his official visit to Thailand in June 2013 has helped advance the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in all areas and aspects.

On this occasion, the Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of Thailand paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, to express condolences on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. He also highlighted the importance of the Strategic Partnership between Thailand and Viet Nam and discussed ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields, including high-level exchanges, trade and investment, connectivity, and tourism as well as cooperation to combat transnational crimes and other regional cooperation.
