On 23 July 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, held a bilateral meeting with the Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, on the sidelines of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and Related Meetings in Manila.

Both sides welcomed the long-standing and cordial relations between Thailand and Canada, noting that the two countries will celebrate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year. They viewed this milestone as an opportunity to further enhance cooperationที่, particularly in trade, investment, climate change and combating online scams. Thailand reaffirmed its support for the early conclusion of the negotiations on the ASEAN - Canada Free Trade Agreement and the start of negotiations on a Thailand - Canada Free Trade Agreement.

The two Ministers also exchanged views on regional developments, including the situation in Myanmar.
