On 6 June 2024, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to congratulate him on his election success and reelection as Prime Minister. This call marked the first discussion between the two leaders. Prime Minister Srettha reiterated his commitment to fostering closer relations and enhancing multifaceted cooperation between Thailand and India at both bilateral and multilateral levels. He also expressed his determination to pay an official visit to India at the earliest opportunity, viewing it as an excellent opportunity to elevate Thailand-India relations to a Strategic Partnership. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi expressed his readiness to welcome the Prime Minister to India and looked forward to participating in the BIMSTEC Summit in Thailand, scheduled for September 2024.
