On 21 November 2025, H.E. Mr. Theerakun Niyom, Chairman of the Advisory board to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with H.E. Mr. Jukr Boon-Long, Political Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs; Pol. Col. Marut Kanjanakhunthakul, Deputy Commander of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division; representatives from the Tak Provincial Office of Social Development and Human Security; and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, co-organised outreach activities with educators and students at Maesot Technical College in Tak province. The event aimed to raise awareness of the risks of being deceived into working illegally abroad, which can lead to becoming victims of human trafficking in Myanmar. The delegation also provided information on the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Royal Thai Embassies and Consulates-General worldwide, available contact channels and assistance for Thai nationals, as well as the Ministry’s efforts to fight against transnational online crime—one of the key drivers of human trafficking—through the upcoming International Conference on Global Partnership against Online Scams) in December 2025 to strenthen global partnership to combat online scams.
The delegation also visited the Human Trafficking Victim Identification Center of the 3rd Volunteer Defense Corps Unit, the Mae Sot Border Checkpoint 2, and Pier 23 Wang Kaew, the area along the Moei River opposite Shwe Kokko in Myanmar. The delegation met with local agencies to exchange recommendations on assisting and repatriating victims of human trafficking and to receive updates on developments from frontline officials. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to play an active role in enhancing public awareness, building resilience, and working with local agencies and institutions in border provinces to prevent risks and support durable solutions to these challenges.
