On 9th August 2023, H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) met with His Excellency Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand on the occasion of the Secretary-General’s official visit to Thailand during 8 – 11 August 2023. The events were also attended by Rear Admiral Somkeart Ponprayoon, Secretary General of the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre (SBPAC) and representatives from the relevant authorities.

On this occasion, both sides expressed their commitment to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation particularly in the area of development and the implementation of the Strategic Tripartite Development Partnership with the OIC through the areas that Thailand expressed its readiness to contribute its expertise, such as agriculture, aquaculture, tourism and public health, to the third countries. Secretary General commended Thailand as a potential partner and praised the policies of the Thai government in taking care of people of all sectors equally, which has brought about development, prosperity, unity and peace. On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister also hosted a luncheon in honour of the OIC Secretary General and his delegation.

In the afternoon, the Secretary General and his delegation visited Prayurawongsawas Woravihara Temple, Banglaung Mosque, and Santa Cruz Church (or the so-called “Three Religious Community”) to observe of the multicultural nature of Thailand where communities of diverse faiths have coexisted for many years.
