Mr. František Ruzicka, Deputy Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), will pay an official visit to Thailand as a guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 8 December 2025.
During his visit, Mr. Ruzicka will meet with the Prime Minister and other senior government representatives. On this occasion, the Prime Minister will handover to the Deputy Secretary-General two key documents: the Initial Memorandum, which serves as Thailand’s self-assessment on the readiness to align its laws, policies, and practices with OECD standards; and the Letter of Intent to start the process of adhering to the OECD Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions. In addition, the Deputy Secretary-General will meet with representatives of Thai labor unions and the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking (JSCCIB). He will also deliver remarks at the launch seminar of the Thailand Economic Survey, jointly prepared by the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council and the OECD, as well as deliver a special lecture on ‘Reform and Legislative Adoption Journey to OECD Membership’ at the Parliament Complex, an event co-organized by King Prajadhipok’s Institute and the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs.
The visit of the OECD Deputy Secretary-General to Thailand, as the representative of the OECD Secretary-General, reflects the close and growing cooperation between Thailand and the OECD. The presentation of the Initial Memorandum marks a concrete and significant step in Thailand’s journey to OECD membership. This progress will contribute to the reform of laws, policies, and practices, thereby elevating Thailand’s economic standards, strengthening its competitiveness, and improving the quality of life of its people.
