On October 17, 2025, Ms. Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General of Thailand in New York, attended a performance by Ms. Keerati Jinakunwipat, a talented Thai-American artist, and her ensemble, who presented a dance-theater production titled “Of Dishes and Dreams” at the Baryshnikov Arts’ Jerome Robbins Theater in New York City.
Ms. Jinakunwipat directed and choreographed the performance, which she also starred in alongside a diverse cast of international dancers. The performance highlighted the importance of family and concluded with a dance accompanied by traditional Thai instrumental music.
The new generation of Thai artists—comprising Thai youth born, raised, or residing in the United States—are exceptionally talented and continue to preserve their Thai heritage. They deserve recognition and greater international support, as their work not only serves as an inspiration but also represents a valuable cultural asset and a vital force in advancing Thailand’s policies across various dimensions, while strengthening people-to-people connections between Thailand and the global community.
