On February 13, 2025, Ms. Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General of Thailand in New York, participated in an interactive workshop on Thai tourism titled “Keepin’ it REAL: A Thailand Workshop”, organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), New York Office, in collaboration with the Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality, New York University (NYU). The Consul General was warmly welcomed by Mrs. Sansanee Amadtayakul Vasasmith, Deputy Director of TAT New York.
On this occasion, the Consul General expressed her gratitude to Dean Angie Kamath of the NYU School of Professional Studies (SPS) for her collaboration with TAT New York in organizing this event. The workshop provided an opportunity for faculty members and undergraduate and graduate students from NYU-SPS, specializing in hospitality, communication, marketing, and real estate, to gain insights into Thailand’s tourism promotion strategies. Students also participated in brainstorming sessions to develop and present their own innovative ideas for promoting Thai tourism.
The Consul General also highlighted the long-standing 192-year diplomatic relations between Thailand and the United States, emphasizing the importance of fostering cooperation and creative exchanges among younger generations to strengthen people-to-people relations and further advance bilateral ties.
During the event, the Royal Thai Consulate-General provided authentic Thai cuisine and desserts, freshly prepared at the Consul General’s residence, to enhance participants' experience and create a deeper connection to Thailand’s rich culture. Additionally, the Consul General encouraged NYU students to visit Thailand and experience its unique charm firsthand.
