On February 28, 2025, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in New York hosted the "Thai Consulate & NYPD Get-Together" to express its gratitude and foster closer relations with the New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers who have greatly contributed to strengthening the partnership with the Consulate-General. Among these were Thai-American NYPD officers, with their prominent and continuous roles in ensuring the safety of the Thai community.

Consul General Somjai Taphaopong extended a warm welcome and her appreciation to the NYPD officers for their unwavering support and excellent cooperation throughout the years. She also took this opportunity to provide an overview of the Consulate-General’s responsibilities and introduced the Consulate-General’s officials, along with representatives from the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations, as a warm and cordial commencement of the networking.

The event welcomed a total of 16 NYPD officers from diplomatic liaison unit, community outreach division, the 17th Precinct serving the East side of Midtown Manhattan that covers the Consulate-General’s location, as well as Thai-American officers serving in various units.

The Thai-American NYPD officers play an honorable role in representing the Thai and Asian community in the U.S. law enforcement sector as well as enhancing greater communication between NYPD and members of the Thai community.
