On March 28, 2025, Ms. Somjai Taphaopong, Consul General of Thailand in New York, together with Mr. Joseph Milano, Honorary Consul General of Thailand in Boston, Mr. Khanthong Nuanual, Deputy Consul General, and Mr. Athikom Daengpun, Consul, met with representatives of the City of Boston and the City of Cambridge respectively during their visit to Massachusetts.
In the morning, the Thai delegation was welcomed by the Mayor of the City of Boston’s representatives, led by Mr. Segun Idowu, Chief of Economic Development and Innovation, Mr. James Colimon, Director of International Partnerships and Consular Affairs, and Ms. Alia Forrest, Director of Business Strategy. They discussed and exchanged views on prospects for enhancing the volumes of Thai trade and investment at all levels, as well as strengthening measures on the protection of Thai community in Boston.
Later, in the afternoon, the Thai delegation held a discussion with Lt. William C. Bates, from the Cambridge Police, on the welfare of Thai community, including a large number of Thai students, residing in the City of Cambridge. In this regard, Lt. Bates expressed his personal admiration for the Thai community as an integral part of the City’s resiliency.
The Royal Thai Consulate-General in New York works closely with the Royal Thai Honorary Consulate-General in Boston in forging closer relations and partnerships with the authorities of the State of Massachusetts, with a view to preserving and promoting the interests of Thailand and Thai people.
