On 18 February 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the mobile cabinet meeting No. 1/2025 in Songkhla province, chaired by H.E. Miss Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, at the Convention Hall of the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Accession to the Throne International Convention Center, Prince of Songkhla University.

After the meeting, the Foreign Minister accompanied the cabinet to the new CIQ Sadao in Sadao district, Songkhla province, to follow up on progress in construction of the road linking the new CIQ Sadao and ICQS Bukit Kayu Hitam in Malaysia. This is part of the border infrastructure development project aimed at enhancing connectivity between Thailand and Malaysia, which is expected to be completed by 2025.

The Sadao Checkpoint was Thailand's busiest border checkpoint in 2024, with a total trade value of 243,948 million baht. It has played a significant role in enhancing tourism and transportation linkages between the two countries.
