On 3 April 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, joined the bilateral meeting between H.E. Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, and Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bhutan, at the Government House, during the 6th BIMSTEC Summit.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral trade and investment, while exchanging views on the Gelephu Mindfulness City project, which focuses on sustainability and mindfulness, aligning with Thailand's Sufficiency Economy Philosophy. The project also provides opportunities for Thai investors in sectors where Thailand has expertise, such as healthcare, agriculture, and tourism.

Both sides were pleased to advance tourism cooperation under the theme "Two Kingdoms, One Destination" to promote the tourism industries of the two Kingdoms. Thailand has also supported development cooperation with Bhutan for over 30 years, both in human resource development and various development initiatives.

On this occasion, both Prime Ministers witnessed the signing of the Thailand-Bhutan Free Trade Agreement, which will help increase trade volume between the two countries to achieve the target of 120 million USD.
