During 5 – 6 February 2025, the Department of Information, Ministry of Foregin Affairs, organized a MFA Outreach Programme entitled, "A Journey Back to Foreigners’ Footprints in Lopburi and Ayutthaya" which constitutes a part of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2025. The participants include Heads and Representatives of the Diplomatic Missions from ASEAN Member States and its key partners, European countries closely linked to the history of Thai diplomacy, BIMSTEC Member States, and ACD Founding Member countries, MFA executives, and foreign media residing in Thailand, with a total of 60 participants.

The study-visit was led by Dr. Laliwan Kanchanachari, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, which offers participants a first-hand experience on the history of the Thai diplomacy, through the visit of ancient historical sites, under the theme of the establishment of relations with foreign countries during the Ayutthaya period and its development as a multicultural society. These sites include Phra Narai Ratchaniwet, the Ambassadors’ Residence, and Kraison Siharat Hall in Lopburi Province; Wat Chaiwatthanaram, Saint Joseph Church, and Chao Sam Phraya National Museum in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. During the visit, Dr. Dhiravat na Pombejra, a historian and expert in Thai history, was the main curator narrating the overview of the history of Thai diplomacy and its relation to each of the historical site that the diplomatic corps visited and projecting the picture of how the Thai society has dynamically evolved over times.

Furthermore, this MFA Outreach programme presents an excellent opportunity to showcase the provinces’s outstanding potential, particularly in tourism, economic development, and local products, with the aim to enhance visibility and credability among tourists, investors, and international private sectors. Additionally, it also foster stronger connections between Diplomatic Missions, foreign media, public and private sectors, and the civil society, laying the foundation for long-term collaboration and sustainable cooperation in the future.
