H.E. Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand sent a message of congratulations to H.E. Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam on 6 August 2021

“Excellency,

          On behalf of the Royal Thai Government and the people of the Kingdom of Thailand, I have the honour to extend my heartfelt felicitations and best wishes to Your Excellency, and through you, to the Government and the people of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam on the 45^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam on 6 August 2021.

          Since 1976, the Thailand – Viet Nam relations and cooperation have grown from strength to strength and yielded great benefits not only to our two countries and peoples but also to the region and beyond.

          Over the years, our economies have become ever closer and increasingly interdependent. Our bilateral trade has almost tripled over the last decade, with the trade volume standing at USD 16.6 billion in 2020. With mutual efforts, we are on course to achieve the target of USD 25 billion by 2025. In addition, we have been part of one another’s growth and positive economic development. I am especially pleased that, with accumulated investment of over USD 12.8 billion to date, Thai companies have been one of the top investors in Viet Nam and a positive force in Viet Nam’s socio-economic development.   

           Through the 45-year journey, our people-to-people exchanges have been expanding into diverse areas, including education, culture and development cooperation, which has helped promote mutual understanding and goodwill between our peoples, especially our new generations.

           Despite challenges posed by COVID-19, I firmly believe that, with unwavering commitment and support from all sectors, our Strengthened Strategic Partnership will continue to prosper and both countries will continue to join hands in ever stronger relations in the future.
