Thailand and Japan to co-host the 1st Mekong - Japan SDGs Forum

Thailand and Japan will jointly organise the 1st Mekong - Japan SDGs Forum on 20 December 2021 via video conference under the theme “Decisive Decade: Actions and Count Down Toward 2030”. H.E. Ms. Arunrung Phothong Humphreys, Ambassador attached to the Ministry and Thai SOM Leader for Mekong Cooperation, and H.E Mr. Kano Takehiro, Assistant Minister and Director-General of Department of Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, will co-chair and deliver opening remarks at the Forum.The Mekong - Japan SDGs Forum is part of the Mekong - Japan Initiative for SDGs toward 2030 which was endorsed at the 12th Mekong - Japan Summit in 2019 in Bangkok. The 1st Forum will focus on three key issues, namely (1) Towards Partnership for Health, (2) Towards Sustainable Economic Recovery and (3) Towards Inclusive and Green Society, seeking to address the common challenges currently faced by the Mekong sub-region.Speakers are experts from Mekong countries, Japan and international organisations. In addition, with a view to promoting engagement by all stakeholders in advancing the SDGs, Thailand and Japan have invited representatives from government, private, academic and people’s sectors including students, Embassies and international organisations in Thailand, which are development partners of the Mekong sub-region, to attend the Forum.
