Ambassador Presided Over the Opening Ceremony of Malaysia’s Premier Songkran Festival 2025 (1)

On 11 April 2025, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, presided over the opening ceremony of the Malaysia’s Premier Songkran Festival 2025, organised by the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur in collaboration with EQ Solutions from 10 to 20 April 2025 at Forecourt 1, 1Utama Shopping Centre, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
In attendance of the Opening Ceremony were Ms. Teo Chui Ping, Managing Director of 1Utama Shopping Centre; Mr. Jo Vin Chuah, Director of EQ Solutions; foreign ambassadors in Malaysia, including H.E. Mr. Ardasher S. Qodiri, Ambassador of Tajikistan; H.E. Ms. Koumba Diop, Ambassador of Guinea; H.E. Mr. Thepthavone Sengmany, Ambassador of the Lao PDR; and H.E. Mr. Radames Jesus Gomez Azuaje, Ambassador of Venezuela; as well as representatives from foreign embassies in Malaysia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, the ASEAN Ladies’ Circle (ALC) in Kuala Lumpur, Friends of Thailand, Malaysian media, and Thai community in Malaysia. The Festival has welcomed several thousand visitors over the past few days.
In her opening remarks, Ambassador Lada highlighted that the Festival was held under the theme “Once in a Lifetime: Experience Songkran in Thailand” to celebrate Songkran as the UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, testifying its significance as a global symbol of joy, unity, and renewal, while opening a window to the world to appreciate Thai stories, thinking, values, ways of life, as well as the cultural identities that bind Thailand and Malaysia together throughout the past almost seven decades of Thailand - Malaysia diplomatic relations.
The Ambassador also invited attendees to explore over 40 Thai food, beverage, and product booths of Thai businesses and community at the Festival, which served as a venue for greater Thailand – Malaysia trade and investment promotion cooperation. Moreover, the Ambassador extended a warm invitation to Malaysian tourists and Friends of Thailand to join the “Maha Songkran World Water Festival 2025”, organised by the Royal Thai Government from 11 to 15 April 2025 in Bangkok, while assuring that Thailand remains a quality, joyous, safe and pleasant destination for all.
