On 26 September 2023, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Royal Thai Government, signed the condolences book for the passing of H.E. Mr. Giorgio Napolitano, former President of Italy, at the Embassy of Italy. Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs was warmly received by H.E. Mr. Paolo Dionisi, Ambassador of Italy to Thailand.

President Napolitano was a leading political figure of Italy and was the first to be re-elected for a second term as President, serving from 2006 - 2013 and 2013 - 2015, totaling 9 years. He was the longest-serving President in the history of Italy.
