On 13 – 19 March 2023, Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Thailand’s IPEF Senior Expert, led the Thai delegation, comprised of representatives of relevant Thai agencies, to participate in the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) Negotiating Round in Bali, Indonesia.
During the meetings, Thailand and IPEF partner countries exchanged extensive views on draft IPEF texts and share their visions and expectations towards tangible benefits across all 4 Pillars, namely Trade, Supply Chain Resilience, Clean Economy and Fair Economy. The meetings also discussed on potential collaborations on capacity building and way forward for IPEF. In addition, the Thai delegation attended the stakeholders engagement session and the Indo-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry Business Forum.
On this occasion, Thailand reiterated the importance of tangible cooperation among partner countries to promote more trade and investment opportunities and striving for sustainable development, which is in line with Thailand’s Bio-Circular-Green Economy Model (BCG Model). Thailand also prioritized cooperation to enhance competitiveness and discussed potential IPEF mechanism in an efficient and sustainable manner.
The Thai delegation also took this opportunity to have bilateral meetings with counterparts from IPEF Partners, including the United States, Japan, Australia, India and ASEAN member countries.
