On 5 October 2023, H.E. Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the virtual Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) Ministerial Meeting, chaired by Ambassador Katherine Tai. United States Trade Representative. Also attended were Ministers and high-level representatives from IPEF Partner Countries.

The Meeting discussed the progress made under Trade Pillar negotiations, as well as the way forward to achieve tangible outcomes for the benefits of the Indo-Pacific Region. The IPEF Trade Pillar Partners also exchanged views extensively on a wide range of cooperation issues, including digital economy, good regulatory practices, services domestic regulation, agriculture, labour, environment, inclusivity, technical assistance and economic cooperation. These areas of cooperation will enhance flows of trade, expand investment opportunities, and promote sustainable and inclusive growth.

On this occasion, DPM/FM Parnpree stressed Thailand’s commitment to working with all IPEF Partners and welcomed the progress made in Trade Pillar negotiations. He also emphasized on the importance of delivering low-hanging fruits of technical assistance and capacity building, as well as ensuring that IPEF can be an effective platform to deliver IPEF visions for regional prosperity.
