On 4-5 May 2021, a representative from the Royal Thai Consulate-General, Dubai attended an International Participants Meeting (IPM), Expo 2020 Dubai at the Dubai Exhibition Centre. The IPM is hosted to brief over 192 international participants/international organisations, including Thailand, on last stage preparations and operations protocols before the start of the Expo 2020 Dubai from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022.
At the opening ceremony, H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Cabinet Member, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and Commissioner General, Expo 2020 Dubai welcomed the international participants and reiterated the commitment of the UAE as a host of the Expo 2020 Dubai in enabling the collaboration of all participants to use the Expo as a platform to showcase their respective countries' advancement, innovation and culture to build a better future for the future generations, which corresponds to the Expo 2020 Dubai's theme of 'Connecting Minds, Creating the Future." In addition, H.E. Reem Al Hashimy, Cabinet Member, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Director General, Expo 2020 Dubai, remains confident that, despite the challenge of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Expo will attract 25 million visits over the course of six months. H.E. Reem further highlighted that the readiness and collaboration of all participants will help create a lasting legacy for all.
The 2-day IPM focused on the operational details of the Expo 2020 Dubai, i.e. operations principles, services and readiness, security framework, Covid-19 preventive measures, event programme, marketing and communications, and virtual Expo.
