On 29 June 2021, H.E. Mr. Nitirooge Phoneprasert, Consul General of Royal Thai Consulate - General, Chennai, accompanied by Mr. Mongkol Siwaluk, Consul, paid a courtesy call on Thiru M.K.Stalin, Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. On this occasion, the Consul General congratulated the Honorable Chief Minister on his assumption of office. Both respected parties expressed their strong willingness to work closely together to further strengthen the vibrant and multifaceted bilateral relations and enhance people-to-people connectivity including the joint activities to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and India next year and the possibility of establishing Sister City Cooperation between the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and the city of Phuket, Thailand. They also discussed possibilities to further promote the bilateral trade, investment, and tourism cooperation following post-Covid-19 recovery for the benefits of the two regions and peoples.

The Consul General has taken this opportunity to present the donation of medical supplies for the use of Covid-19 treatment and a sum of 1 million Indian Rupees to the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund by CPF (India), an agro-industrial Thai company which has invested in Tamil Nadu since 1996.
