On 27 March 2023, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Mr. Carlos Humberto Jiménez Licona, Ambassador of Guatemala to Thailand, upon the Ambassador’s completion of tenure.

During the farewell call, both sides took the opportunity to reaffirm shared commitments to further strengthening Thai-Guatemalan ties, especially in economic development, tourism, and people-to-people cooperation. The Ambassador of Guatemala also shared with the DPM/FM his impression and fond memories of Thailand and Thai people and expressed appreciation to the Thai side for the support rendered to the reopening of the Guatemalan Embassy, Bangkok in 2019 and the activities to celebrate the 65th Thailand-Guatemala Diplomatic Relations in 2022, including Thailand’s gift of a Kinnaree statue now displayed at the Guatemalan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On 28 March 2023, DPM/FM designated Mr. Nathapol Khantahiran, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, to host a luncheon in honor of the Ambassador of Guatemala on the aforementioned occasion at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ambassadors from the Group of Latin American and the Caribbean Countries (GRULAC) and representatives of Thai private sector and academic institution also attended the farewell luncheon.
