On 8 November 2023, H.E. Ms. Nitivadee Manitkul, Ambassador attached to the Ministry, attended the Presentation of a miniature of Bangkok’s “Giant Swing” (Sao Ching Cha) Ceremony, to commemorate the 190th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and the U.S., and the 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of Sister-cities between Bangkok and Washington D.C., at Wachirabenchathat Park in Bangkok. The event was co-hosted by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, and the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand (AMCHAM). Groups of representatives from members of AMCHAM also attended the event.

In celebrating this special occasion, H.E. Ms. Nitivadee Manitkul, Ms. Ornkanya Pibuldham, President of AMCHAM, H.E. Mr. Robert F. Godec, U.S. Ambassador to Thailand and Governor Chadchart Sitthipunt, Governor of Bangkok, highlighted in their remarks the importance of people-to-people ties between Thailand, and then the U.S. Governor Chadchart Sitthipunt presented a miniature of the Giant Swing to Ambassador Godec as a present from the city of Bangkok to Washington D.C. Additionally, the participants also planted trees in the park as part of BMA’s “Plant a Million Trees” programme.
