On 15 January 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, in collaboration with the French Embassy in Bangkok, hosted the launch event for the official commemorative logo celebrating the 340^th anniversary of the first contact between Siam and France in 2025 and the 170^th anniversary of Thailand-France diplomatic relations in 2026 at Vithes Samosorn, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On this occasion, H.E. Mrs. Lalivan Karnchanachari, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Mr. Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, Ambassador of the French Republic to the Kingdom of Thailand, presided over the event attended by over 300 representatives from various agencies and members of the media.

In her opening remarks, the Vice Minister emphasised the enduring and dynamic nature of Thailand-France relations, which have remained strong and stable for over three centuries. These ties date back to 1685, when a French diplomatic mission led by Chevalier de Chaumont under King Louis XIV, visited the Siamese court of King Narai the Great. The event provided an opportunity for both sides to showcase the robust cooperation, paving the way for a future Strategic Partnership status.

During the event, round-trip airfare tickets between Bangkok and Paris for two people, sponsored by Air France were awarded to the winner of the logo design competition, Mr. Karakot Chaiyon, under the theme “Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow,” to commemorate the longstanding Thailand – France relations.

The event also featured an exhibition on the historical ties between Thailand and France, organized by the Thai Association of French Teachers under the Royal Patronage. Additionally, there were special performances, including renditions of “Air des Siamois” and “Entrée des Siamois,” composed by a French court musician for the reception of Siamese diplomatic legation, and a selection of French and Thai songs performed by Ms. Fonpa Pramoj Na Ayudhya.
