On 10 December 2024, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, met with H.E. the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, the Governor of South Australia, at the Government House, and with the Honourable Peter Malinauskas MP, Premier of South Australia, at the State Administration Centre in Adelaide, during his official visit to Australia from 10 - 12 December 2024. Miss Chayika Wongnapachant, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, also attended.

During the discussions, the Minister highlighted Thailand’s goal to enhance cooperation with other countries in three aspects of security, including human, food, and energy, areas where both Thailand and South Australia excel. On this occasion, the Governor commended Thailand’s Proactive Economic Diplomacy, while the Premier expressed support for enhancing collaboration in education through joint-ventures and deepening partnerships between educational institutions. The Minister also emphasised Thailand’s strategic role as hub in various aspects, linking Australia with South, East, and Southeast Asia regions. Furthermore, both sides discussed cooperation in the Mekong sub-region, BIMSTEC, and regional issues.

On the same day, the Minister visited the Waite Campus at the University of Adelaide, a leading centre for research, experimentation, and education in smart and precise agriculture.
