Minister of Foreign Affairs gives policy guidance to Team Thailand in enhancing closer economic relations in unity and confirms to fully support Thai businesses in Malaysia

On 4 August 2024, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, discussed and gave policy guidance to Team Thailand in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on enhancing closer economic relations and take forward the discussion between the Prime Ministers of Thailand and Malaysia on 3 August 2024, including trade, investment in border areas, as well as connectivity, tourism, and labour, including future directions in gearing Thailand’s diplomacy onwards, especially in the economic dimension, as well as exchanged views with Thai companies in Malaysia and be briefed on relevant information and recommendations in doing business here, during his visit to Malaysia to co-chair with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia in the 15th Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JC) and the 6th Joint Development Strategy for Border Areas (JDS).

On this occasion, the Minister commended Team Thailand for their active roles and expressed appreciation for their efficient work, including highlighted that Team Thailand has an important role in jointly gearing forward bilateral issues in unity with the benefits of the peoples of the two countries at heart, including conducting proactive economic diplomacy, protecting and safeguarding the interests of Thai nationals, as well as promoting Thailand’s regional and international roles. He was also briefed on the operation progress and the challenges from the chiefs of each office and Thai companies in Malaysia, while reaffirming the government’s readiness to cooperate with Thai companies to facilitate ease of doing business, investment and build business confidence of Thailand in accordance to re-Ignite Thai Foreign Policy.
