On 30 October 2025, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, joined a bilateral meeting between H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, and the Right Honourable Mr. Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, during the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Gyeongju, the Republic of Korea. This marked the first high-level meeting between Thailand and Canada following the assumption of office of both leaders.
 
 
The Prime Minister of Canada expressed his condolences on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. Both sides discussed economic cooperation, with particular emphasis on expediting negotiations of the ASEAN - Canada Free Trade Agreement (FTA), and the possibility of initiating negotiations for a bilateral FTA between Thailand and Canada going forward. They also explored opportunities for collaboration on rare earth minerals, defense industries, Thailand’s accession to the OECD, and clean energy, while the Prime Minister of Thailand highlighted Thailand’s capacity in developing LNG modules.
 
 
On the Thailand - Cambodia border situation, both sides also discussed ways to enhance capacity building in demining.
