On 19 October 2022, Mr. Mathias Cormann, OECD Secretary-General paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his visit to Bangkok to attend the 29th APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting.
Both sides exchanged views and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of cooperation with the OECD on improving regulatory frameworks and raising standards to enhance Thailand’s competitiveness through the Thailand-OECD Country Programme (CP). Mr. Cormann reiterated the importance of cooperation with Thailand and reaffirmed the OECD’s readiness to support Thailand’s development agenda.
The CP aims to bring Thailand closer to the OECD by adopting OECD’s standards and regulations. The CP Phase 1 was completed in 2021. Currently, Thailand is working with the OECD to design CP Phase 2, which will further align Thailand with more OECD instruments and standards.
