Minister of Foreign Affairs chaired an informal consultation with Foreign Ministers of China, Myanmar, and the Lao PDR

On 15 August 2025, H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired an informal consultation with H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China; H.E. U Than Swe, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar; and H.E. Mr. Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, on the sidelines of the 10th Mekong–Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Anning, China.

This informal consultation is a continuation of Thailand’s initiative to promote candid and constructive dialogue between Myanmar and its neighbouring countries to advance cooperation in addressing issues of common interest and concern, particularly combating narcotic drugs, online scams and other transnational crimes.

The meeting also appreciated an update from the Myanmar Foreign Minister about the progress of political roadmap in the country.
