H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, leads the Thai delegation to attend the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79) on 22-28 September 2024 in New York.

During UNGA79, the Minister of Foreign Affairs is scheduled to deliver statements at the Summit of the Future and the General Debate. The Minister of Foreign Affairs will reassure on Thailand’s stability, potential and readiness to work with all countries in promoting peace, stability and prosperity while highlighting Thailand's role as a bridge-builder and friend of all countries. Thailand is determined to help set important global agendas and support the United Nations’ effort to work with all stakeholders to address current and future global challenges, such as climate change and natural disasters, transnational cyber-crime, drugs, and digital transformation. Furthermore, Thailand supports the reform of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), so that it aligns with the changing world and can effectively address various global challenges, as well as promote cooperation from all stakeholders to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In addition, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will chair the Ministerial Meeting of Foreign Policy and Global Health Initiative, demonstrating Thailand’s leading role in public health on the international stage and host a reception for Thailand’s candidature to the United Nations Human Rights Council for the term of 2025-2027. The Minister of Foreign Affairs will also hold bilateral discussions with Foreign Ministers of various countries and meet with the ASEAN-US Business Council (USABC) and executives of leading global technology companies, as well as deliver a speech at the Asia Society.

As for other programs of visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will chair a meeting of Team Thailand to convey the directives of the newly established government’s and meet with the Thai community in New York to support the building of a strong Thai community abroad.
