On 22 September 2022, Mr. Asi Mamanee, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, hosted “An Evening with the European Department” reception for the European diplomatic corps in Thailand at Vithes Samosorn, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Around 130 participants attended the event, including ambassadors, chargés d’Affaires a.i. and diplomats from the European embassies as well as executives and diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

On this occasion, the Director-General made an opening remarks welcoming the European diplomatic corps., and reiterated the commitment of the Department of European Affairs to enhance relations and work closely with the European counterparts to overcome obstacles and challenges together, as well as vowed to serve as entry point on  various issues. 

In addition, Mr. Tharit Charungvat, former Ambassador and the incumbent Secretary-General of Thailand Foundation, gave a special talk on people and synergy and introduced the foundation’s activities. Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau also joined the reception and presented an exhibition showcasing Thailand’s candidature to host the “Specialised Expo 2007/2028” in Phuket under the title “Expo 2028 - Phuket, Thailand”, which the Thai government recently declared a national agenda.
