Between 19 - 20 March 2025, the Thailand Foundation organized the Sixth Expatriate Orientation Program (EOP6). The two-day program aimed to provide useful and interesting information about various aspects of the country, Thai people, and Thainess to foreigners living and working in Thailand. Attendees included diplomats, representatives from the public and private sectors, as well as businesspersons, among others.
The Expatriate Orientation Program (EOP) is a biannual comprehensive learning experience designed to serve as a "quick-start manual" for expatriates and their families living in Thailand. The program helps participants enhance both their professional and personal lives by providing valuable insights from renowned experts across various fields. It also offers a unique opportunity to make expat life in Thailand more successful, enjoyable, and memorable.
The EOP6 commenced with welcoming remarks by Ambassador Sorut Sukthaworn, Assistant Secretary-General of the Thailand Foundation. Sessions at the Sixth Expatriate Orientation Program included: (1) Prism of Thainess: Approaching Thai Society from the Perspective of Thai Values by Mr. Jonas Anderson; (2) Appreciating Arts Around You in Thailand by Prof. Dr. Apinan Poshyananda; (3) Hidden Bangkok by Mr. Philip Cornwel-Smith; (4) Thai Economy: Thriving in Global Uncertainties by Dr. Kirida Bhaopichitr; (5) Discovering the Four Regions of Thailand by Rails by Mr. Richard Barrow; (6) Introducing Thai History by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dhiravat na Pombejra; (7) Buddhism in the Mindset and the Ways of Life of the Thai People by Dr. Phibul Choompolpaisal; and (8) Finding Your Lifestyles in Thailand by Mr. Daniel Fraser. The program concluded with closing remarks by Ambassador Tharit Charungvat, Secretary-General of the Thailand Foundation.
