On 17 November 2025, Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, participated in the ASEAN - China Week 2025 in Fuzhou city, Fujian Province, at the invitation of the ASEAN - China Centre. The event was aimed to strengthen ASEAN - China cooperation in various areas, including digital economy, innovation, green transition, culture, tourism, education, and regional connectivity.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary delivered a keynote address at the opening ceremony of the event, emphasizing the strong relations between ASEAN and China as Comprehensive Strategic Partners (CSP) and cooperation to build a future-ready and people-centred region through the goal alignment of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and Chinese modernization. He also highlighted the ASEAN - China Free Trade Agreement 3.0 (ACFTA 3.0) upgrade, promoting digital and green economic cooperation, and fostering closer people-to-people ties.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary also joined a panel discussion on the topic “Technological Innovation and AI-Powered Digital Economy,“ providing his views on the importance of ASEAN - China collaboration in the development of human-centric and inclusive AI in all dimensions: policy implementation, infrastructure, AI application, and human capital development. He also highlighted the potential of ASEAN’s digital economy with the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA), for which Thailand is chair of negotiations.
In addition, the Deputy Permanent Secretary also had a meeting with the Secretary-General of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA). Both sides exchanged views on economic cooperation at the regional and global levels.
