On 4th March 2024, Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, welcomed Mr. Shi Zhongjun, Secretary General of the ASEAN-China Centre, during the latter’s visit to Thailand.

On this occasion, the DPS was briefed on the Centre’s overall work in the past year and its work plan for 2024. The DPS emphasised that Thailand attached high importance to promoting ASEAN-China relations and strengthening the ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Thailand would also continue to proactively support the work of the Centre.

In addition, both sides exchanged views on how to further promote cooperation between each other, particularly on the occasion of the Year of ASEAN-China Cooperation of People-to-People Exchanges this year, covering several dimensions of activities, namely economy, culture, education, tourism, youth and media. They also discussed cooperation on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Thailand and China in 2025.
