On 11 December 2023, H.E. Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, joined the international community in the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), by announcing Thailand’s human rights pledges as follows:

(1) Advacing human rights commitments and actions by ratifying the ICPPED, promoting the efficiency of the justice process and advancing gender equality;

(2) Upgrading national infrastructure in dealing with new global challenges that have human rights implications, including climate change and environment;

(3) Enhancing the quality and access to health services for all people;

(4) Providing human rights education and training for government officials and all sectors of the society and;

(5) Institutionalizing regular and meaningful engagement with the youth.

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the UDHR and reaffim their commitment to advance the promotion and protection of human rights, UN member states have made 1-5 pledges today. The announcement of Thailand’s pledges does not only reiterates the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment but also aims to strengthen her human rights efforts as well.
