On 5 May 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, held discussions with Mrs. Vibeke Lyssand Leirvåg, Chairwoman of the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand (JFCCT), and executives from 25 foreign chambers of commerce in Thailand that are members of the JFCCT.

Both sides discussed promoting an enabling economic environment conducive to trade and investment in Thailand, ASEAN integration, Thailand’s accession process to the OECD, and visa policy. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the Government’s proactive economic diplomacy amidst prevailing geopolitical challenges, with a focus on enhancing Thailand’s competitiveness and strengthening international cooperation in order to accelerate development, address challenges, and generate greater added value for the Thai economy.

The JFCCT expressed confidence in Thailand’s economic potential and its important role in the region. They put forward recommendations to enhance the country’s competitiveness, including advancing digital government, developing future-ready human capital, strengthening the capacity of SMEs, promoting holistic and integrated sustainability, and pursuing regulatory reform.
