On 9 June 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had discussions with H.E. Mr. Otaka Masato, Ambassador of Japan to Thailand.

Both sides exchanged views on enhancing cooperation in the areas of economy, politics and security, high-level exchanges, and preparations for the celebration of the 140th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Japan in 2027. The Deputy Prime Minister is also attending the 31st Nikkei Forum Future of Asia on 10 - 12 June 2026 in Tokyo.
