On 21 October 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a telephone discussion with H.E. Mr. Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy.

Thailand expressed appreciation to the Government of Italy for conferring the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, at the rank of Knight Grand Cross, upon H.R.H. Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya on 20 October 2026.

Both Deputy Prime Ministers reaffirmed the importance of the cordial relations between the two countries, which are important partners in the respective regions. Both sides then discussed ways toward elevating bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership and enhancing economic cooperation, trade and investment, particularly in the areas of medical science, agriculture, clean energy, and digitalisation.
