On 5 October 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, met with H.E. Mr. Sean Kotaro O’Neill, Ambassador of the United States to Thailand, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In particular, both sides discussed planned exchanges of high-level visits, progress of negotiation of the trade agreement, as well as defense and security cooperation. On this occasion, the U.S. Ambassador expressed appreciation to the Thai side for facilitating the port call by the George H. W. Bush Carrier Strike Group in Phuket during 4-9 October 2026, which reflects the close and longstanding Thai-U.S. alliance.

Both sides also discussed regional developments, including the situation in Myanmar and the Thailand-Cambodia situation.
