On 26 May 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with H.E. Mr. Michael George DeSombre, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, on the sidelines of the United Nations Security Council Open Debate in New York.

Both sides discussed ways to further strengthen the longstanding alliance between Thailand and the United States. The U.S. side congratulated Thailand on the formation of its new government, while expressing readiness and confidence that the stable government would provide an important opportunity to further enhance and deepen cooperation between Thailand and the United States across all areas, including defence and security cooperation.

Both sides also exchanged views on regional developments and international issues of mutual interest, including the Thailand - Cambodia border situation.
