H.E. Mr. Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of Luxembourg, will pay an official visit to Thailand during 8-9 February 2024. On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Jakkapong Sangmanee, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, will host a luncheon in honor of Deputy Prime Minister Bettel and his delegation, and take this opportunity to discuss all areas of cooperation.

As this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Thailand and Luxembourg, the visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations in potential areas such as trade and investment, FinTech, research and education, computer innovation, and development cooperation. Both sides will take this opportunity to exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interests.

Besides the meeting with the Thai Deputy Foreign Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Bettel will give a special lecture on the topic of “Diplomacy at a Crossroads: Ingredients for Peace”at Chulalongkorn University. He will also meet with the private sector, as well as the Governor of Bangkok, to discuss environmental challenges to urbanisation and will have a study visit on water management along the Chao Phraya River.
