On 16 January 2024, H.E. Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the Diplomacy Dialogue on Myanmar on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum 2024 in Davos. The session was attended by an invited group of high-level officials from the region and international agencies. H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs was also in attendance.

Deputy Prime Minister Panpree stated that Thailand will play a proactive and constructive role, together with ASEAN and with the support from neighbours of Myanmar and external partners, to support peaceful, stable and unified Myanmar. He also emphasised the need for all parties in Myanmar to engage in meaningful dialogue in order to achieve reconciliation and a peaceful political solution.

Deputy Prime Minister Panpree mentioned Thailand’s immediate goal to help meet the humanitarian needs in Myanmar, particularly its initiative to upscale humanitarian assistance for the Myanmar people along the Thai-Myanmar common border. He shared that Thailand and Myanmar are working out details to ensure that the delivery of the assistance is effective, credible and transparent, and to reach the Myanmar people in need on the ground.
