On 22 April 2025, Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, held a discussion with Mr. Kim Hee-Sang, Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea (ROK), during Deputy Minister Kim’s visit to Thailand to attend the 81st session of ESCAP.

Both sides discussed strengthening Thailand - ROK economic relations amidst global economic uncertainties. Special emphasis was given to further facilitation of ROK investors in Thailand, making a full use of the Thailand - ROK Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), and enhancing cooperation on culture and tourism. The Deputy Permanent Secretary also stressed the importance of maintaining high-level exchanges within this year and keeping the good momentum of bilateral cooperation to generate even greater benefits to their peoples.

On regional issues, both sides exchanged views on cooperation in ASEAN and Thailand’s accession to the OECD.
