On 6 May 2025, the ASEAN Committee in Doha (ACD) organized a mangrove planting activity in partnership with Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som. The event was attended by Ambassadors, spouses, Chargé d’affaires, and diplomats from ASEAN Member States’ embassies in Qatar. Participants planted mangrove saplings along the nursery site at the Al Ruwais coastline, in support of Qatar’s ongoing efforts in mangrove conservation, coastal protection, and biodiversity promotion.
On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Sira Swangsilpa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar and Chair of ASEAN Committee in Doha for 2025, underscored ASEAN’s commitment to environmental responsibility, in alignment with ASEAN’s sustainable development agenda and Qatar National Vision 2030. The activity aimed not only to contribute to Qatar’s environmental conservation goals but also to raise awareness of biodiversity preservation among diplomatic community and the wider public in Qatar.
The Royal Thai Embassy, as Chair of ACD for 2025, remains committed to further enhancing ASEAN’s visibility in Qatar, strengthening cooperation among ASEAN member states, and fostering close collaboration between Qatar and ASEAN countries through constructive initiatives. The ACD comprises the ambassadors from 7 ASEAN member states in Doha - Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, and Thailand.
