On 27 September 2023, Mr. Asi Mamanee, the Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, hosted "An Evening with the European Department" Reception in honour of the European Diplomatic Corps in Thailand. This exclusive reception, held at the Vithes Samosorn, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, brought together approximately 130 participants, comprising Ambassadors, Charge d’affaires a.i., Diplomats from the European embassies in Thailand, related Thai agencies, academia, private sectors, as well as executives and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Director-General delivered the opening remarks, extending a warm welcome to the European Diplomatic Corps, and highlighting the Government’s key objective, which is to strengthen relationships between Thailand and European counterparts in the fields of science, technology and innovation, while simultaneously broadening the scope of economic cooperation within the new era, where science, technology and innovation are paramount.

On this occasion, it was an honour that Mr. Chartsiri Sophonpanich, President of Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited, delivered a keynote speech on the topic of "Science and Innovation: Driving towards a sustainable future,” highlighting the myriad advantages that technology and innovation bring to the enhancement of business, trade, and investment, propelling towards a sustainable and prosperous future, as well as investment opportunities in the promising economic landscape of Thailand and the ASEAN region.
