On 22 May 2026, Mr. Chulvat Narinthrangura, Director-General of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), and Dr. Angela Jane Macdonald, Australian Ambassador to Thailand, signed the Exchange of Notes for the Thailand-Australia Energy Cooperation Project at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Representatives from the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, the Ministry of Energy, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), and the Australian Embassy also attended the ceremony.
The signing of the Exchange of Notes for the Thailand-Australia Energy Cooperation Project builds on the success of the Energy Cooperation Workplan endorsed by both sides in 2023. This project is part of Australia’s initiative on Partnerships for Infrastructure (P4I), which provides financial support for the development of renewable energy and sustainable transition through policy dialogue, joint study, exchange of knowledge and technology for clean energy, and capacity building for the relevant Thai agencies and personnel. The project aims to promote Thailand towards a low emission and carbon neutral society, with the Ministry of Energy of Thailand together with EGAT as implementing agencies of Thai side and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia as the implementing agency on the Australian side.
