Director-General of the International Organizations Department chairs meeting between Thai and U.S. agencies on countering online scams

On 1 October 2026, Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, chaired a meeting between representatives of the relevant Thai agencies and Mr. Seth Bailey, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, U.S. Department of State, who led a delegation of related agencies during his visit to Thailand, to exchange information and views on ways to further strengthen Thailand - U.S. cooperation in countering online scams. H.E. Mr. Sean O’Neill, U.S. Ambassador to Thailand, also attended the meeting.

Both sides shared the view that countering online scams is among the key areas of cooperation in Thailand - U.S. relations. The two sides exchanged information and views on the online scams situation in the region and concurred on the importance of strengthening cooperation in the areas of investigation and prosecution, intelligence, and training in digital forensics.

Participants at the meeting included officials from the agencies responsible for countering online scams both in Thailand and the United States. The Thai side comprised representatives from the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, Office of the National Security Council, Royal Thai Police, National Intelligence Agency, Office of the Attorney General, and the Anti-Money Laundering Office. The U.S. side comprised representatives from the Regional Security Office, Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Political-Military and External Affairs Unit, and the Political Section of the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok.
