On 22 January 2026, Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, chaired a preparatory meeting among Thai agencies for the upcoming 82nd session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).

The meeting discussed pathways to further strengthen cooperation between Thailand and ESCAP, including its members and associate members. They also prepared Thailand’s position for the upcoming session, which will be held under the theme “Leaving no one behind: advancing a society for all ages in Asia and the Pacific” during 20 - 24 April 2026 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

ESCAP, hosted by Thailand since 1949, is the largest of the five United Nations regional commissions. The 82nd session of ESCAP will be the first time in 16 years that the meeting will be held outside Thailand.
