Director-General of the International Organizations Department meets U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State on the sidelines of the Global Fraud Summit in Vienna

On 16 March 2026, Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, had a discussion with Mr. David Bedard, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs of the United States, on the sidelines of the Global Fraud Summit in Vienna. Also in attendance were high-level representatives from relevant Thai agencies: the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, the Royal Thai Police, and the Anti-Money Laundering Office.

Both sides exchanged views on cooperation and measures to address the problems of online scams. The U.S. Deputy Secretary of State recognized Thailand’s commitment and active role in combating online scams, including through the convening of the International Conference on the Global Partnership against Online Scams on 17 - 18 December 2025 in Bangkok. He also shared that on 6 March 2026, the U.S. President signed an Executive Order on Combating Cybercrime, Fraud, and Predatory Schemes against American Citizens, which serves as a tool in the effective combat of cybercrime and fraud and in working with other countries to fight against these crimes and under which Thailand and the U.S. can explore concrete areas of cooperation.
