On 25 November 2024, Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations led the Thai Delegation and delivered a statement at the high-level segment of the Fifth Review Conference of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on Their Destruction (RevCon5) in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Also in attendance were the Director-General of the Thailand Mine Action Center (TMAC), the Secretary General of the National Institute for Emergency Medicine, and representatives of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, as well as Charge D’Affaires of the Royal Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh and representative of the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations in Geneva.

On this occasion, Thailand reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling the obligations under the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on Their Destruction on all fronts, including the clearance of remaining anti-personnel mines along the border areas, victim assistance, and enhancing cooperation and assistance in effectively implementing the Convention. Thailand also expressed readiness to cooperate with all parties on humanitarian demining activities to achieve the shared vision of a mine-free world.

At present, there are 164 State Parties to the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on Their Destruction on all fronts. The Review Conference is held every five years for States Parties to take stock of the progress made under the Convention and to develop an action plan for implementing the Convention over the next five years.
